Located just 10 minutes from Cromwell, Penny’s Drop Inn is an easy base for exploring Queenstown and Wānaka, while still enjoying a quieter rural location.
The private rooms and dormitories allow you a chance to rest and reset before venturing into the spacious and modern shared living; where stories are exchanged, friendships are formed and experiences are made.
The setting and subtle sustainable approach to living will naturally encourage you to slow down, soak in your surroundings, reflect and appreciate being in the present moment. Particularly after a full day of exploring the beautiful Central Otago.

Large shared space for two. with more privacy, security and storage. Perfect for friends or family who are happy to share a room.
Our Story
Des and Lynlea are the visionaries behind Pennys Drop Inn. After 30 years of marriage and 3 children they started on their dream. A lifestyle block to share with others, create memories and foster human connection.
Des - a determined and clever builder, set out to develop the land with his own two hands. It proved challenging as the world was faced with the covid 19 pandemic. Des however, stayed focused on their dream. Despite setbacks they opened in December 2020.
In 2025 unforeseen, life-changing news reshaped their dream into a family-run venture. Penny’s Drop Inn is now a place the entire family is proud to share.
